We woke up to unsettled, but still generally good weather. We were tired, but knew what to expect in getting to Schjelderup Lake as we made the same trip in 2003. We expected to take about 6 hours with breaks and wanted to get into camp at Schjelderup Lake in time to bathe and relax before the much more difficult day going across Phillips Ridge.

The route from the Hinde to Schjelderup Lake has some interesting challenges. In this direction, you go down to the log jam at Burman Lake, and then up to the shoulder of Mount Burman (which Roger and I climbed in 2005) and then down a rugged route to Schjelderup Lake.

The route gave us some movie moments, and some great views. But really, we were very tired, and just wanted to be at Schjelderup Lake and relax.

We arrived at Schjelderup Lake, and set up a nice camp. The weather was looking like it was going to get nasty and we wondered if we would be able to climb Phillips Ridge the following day. As it turned out, we had a great fire, it got very cold, we got a bit of a mist, but no real rain and the weather stayed much the same - low clouds, wind, unsettled conditions - but no real rain. As long as it didn't rain, we knew we'd make it.

We stayed up late, talked a lot, went over our previous week and were amazed it was almost over. We were feeling pretty good by the time we went to sleep.
